  1. Where was this taken, Bill / Shannon? Her eyes look like they've seen more than her age justifies.

  2. There is no telling what she has seen, Jeanne. Her name is Aluel Kadam. She's a refugee from Southern Sudan, an area suffering ethnic cleansing and jihad by Arabs from the northern part of the country. I couldn't get much of her story. She hasn't been in Nairobi long and is just learning to speak English, Swahili and Kiswahili.

  3. Wow, Bill, thank you for the description. I hope Aluel finds good refuge in Kenya.

  4. Our church is supporting the school/orphanage she attends. We feed 160 children two meals a day with what we send. I imagine with the fighting in the Congo, there will soon be more children.

  5. What a beautiful face, and those eyes- they look like the eyes of strength due to sorrow.
